"So this is just so we can be clear as to what property rate we want moving forward," the Treasurer said while reviewing last year’s 6.45% figure and budget context. The Chair said he had been approached by Matt McCarty of the school district and John Carr of the county expressing interest in talking with the district but that staff-level cooperation on an interlocal agreement is proceeding.
Board members repeatedly emphasized upcoming capital obligations tied to tower construction and maintenance. One member noted the district had committed to a multi-year capital plan and a recent $1,000,000 capital authorization for tower upgrades, and argued those commitments supported retaining the rate. After discussion, a motion to keep the tax structure unchanged was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board did not adopt new tax language or change percentages; members agreed to revisit the matter in future budgeting cycles if conditions change.
