City Manager Paul Kramer provided final highlights of the proposed 2027 budget, including modest operational increases and a flat mill rate for property tax purposes.
Doug Donahue summarized the budget highlights: "The operational budget for 2027 compared to 2026 revised budget features slight increases to personnel, contractual service, and commodities, adding up to a 4.1% increase in operational budget expenses in 2027." He also reported the proposal includes a flat mill from year to year of 23.267.
The city will host a budget open house on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Shawnee Town Hall from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The budget and revenue-neutral rate public hearings are set for the regular city council meeting on Monday, Aug. 24, when the council will consider adopting the proposed 2027 budget.
