Wellston board confirms salary schedule and hires multiple staff, including elementary teacher and Virtual Academy instructor

Following an executive session to discuss personnel, the Wellston Board of Education approved the FY26 certified salary schedule and confirmed several hires and appointments.
The board approved the FY26 certified salary schedule on a motion by Brock Terrell, seconded by Christa Coover; the motion carried 5–0. In subsequent actions the board voted to hire Wendy Payne as an elementary education teacher and to hire Elizabeth Withrow as a part‑time adjunct Family and Consumer Sciences teacher; both motions carried unanimously.
The board also appointed Anna Pannell as the district’s encumbrance clerk and approved hiring Gina McVey as a part‑time Virtual Academy instructor. The motion to hire McVey carried but recorded one abstention: Bradley Pittman abstained with a conflict. Earlier meeting materials (May 8 minutes appended) also list prior hiring actions (Tracy Johnson, Natalie Fesler) and extra‑duty contracts approved for athletics and activities.
The board’s personnel approvals allow the district to complete staffing for the 2025–26 school year and post required documentation with the county and state as needed.
