"I, as of today, have put in an offer on a new home," the councilor said, and added that they will be resigning from Council upon closing. The councilor encouraged fellow members to begin interviews and applications so the council can appoint a replacement within the required timeframe rather than holding a special election for the remaining months of the term.
Council discussed logistics: the departing member said they would likely close in about a month, and noted the council has 30 days after the vacancy to appoint a replacement.
