Commissioners said they want more clarity on whether the submitted "project area" matches IDOT's Area of Potential Effect (APE) and requested additional details about proposed work that could affect cultural landscape elements — street trees, stamped sidewalks, curbs, and brick paving. Kate Himmick (staff) and other commissioners recommended a site visit and emphasized that local knowledge should be added to IDOT's resource list. Staff asked commissioners to submit comments and site observations by the end of day Wednesday (March 11) so the secretary could consolidate and send comments to emilyland@idot.
"If we could have your comments by the end of the day on Wednesday, that would be, wonderful," Olivia said, setting a clear internal deadline. Commissioners agreed to walk or drive the corridor, note potential historic resources, and provide that input to staff for compilation.
