Woodland Star’s executive director described the school’s Waldorf‑inspired, low‑tech approach for TK–8, its use of multi‑sensory instruction and specialty enrichment (Spanish, knitting, gardening, PE), and cited state dashboard and Star Renaissance screener results showing strengths in language arts and areas to grow in math. The presenter said the school’s unrestricted reserves have increased on average about 19.6% over the last eight years and reported few audit findings.
Trustees asked about English‑learner reclassification standards (the charter said it uses state‑mandated reclassification after 55% of students passed the ELPAC), enrollment and lottery procedures, class sizes and waitlists; Woodland Star said they operate a lottery for new applicants when classes are oversubscribed and project a 260‑student charter cap for next year.
After trustee questions and a motion, the board voted to renew the charter petition.
