TxDOT representative Nate Beaver briefed the Hemphill County Commissioners on an option for the county to take over maintenance of the Big Timber Rest Area on Highway 83 North. Commissioners said they had questions about the potential liability and ongoing costs of maintaining the rest area.
Commissioner Dawn Webb moved to table consideration of the proposal until the county attorney could review the contract; Commissioner Nicholas Thomas seconded and the motion carried without opposition. The court listed the item again on the future agenda, and no cost estimate or new timeline appeared in the minutes.
