County engineer schedules open house after more than 500 public comments on long-range transportation plan

“We received over 500 comments,” the engineer said, and staff have worked to distill recurring themes. He said safety and congestion were among the highest themes and that commenters called for better accommodations for pedestrians and other non-motorized users. The engineer added that many comments reinforced work already planned in the county’s five-year construction program and noted coordination with MnDOT for state highway corridors.
Staff said an executive-summary-level report and engagement materials will be posted on the county website after the meeting, and the plan team expects the final written plan to be delivered in April. The engineer encouraged public participation and asked commissioners and the public what, if anything, staff may have missed in the engagement record.
