The Lorain County Board of Commissioners voted on Feb. 24 to approve a $540,000 bed-tax payment to Visit Lorain County to cover debt service tied to the Visitors Bureau (Requisition LOG #434, account 8016).
Commissioner David J. Moore discussed the county’s long history with the visitors bureau building, recalling that during his first 30 days as a commissioner in 2001 he opposed financing that facility. "The first 30 days he was a commissioner back in 2001 he voted no on financing of a visitors bureau building on SR58," Moore said during the requisitions discussion. The bed-tax payment was included in a larger batch of requisitions approved by the board.
Visit Lorain County is identified in the meeting record as the recipient for the debt service payment; the board recorded the requisition and approved a motion to adopt the list of purchases and payments.
