Clay program will require Coach Safely, concussion and SafeSport training

Mayor and program leaders said coach training is mandatory as part of the Clay Youth Sports initiative. Coaches will take the free Coach Safely course and be trained to recognize concussions, hydration issues and other safety concerns; additional meetings will align coaching expectations.
Program leaders said higher-level competitive coaches will be encouraged to pursue US Soccer Federation licensing while all coaches will be encouraged to complete SafeSport. "There will also be a couple of coach training meetings, where the coaches can kinda get all on the same page of the things that are that this program thinks are important," the mayor said.
