The mayor said SCDOT initially intended to move an existing sidewalk segment but, after public comment, "they've put it on pause and is looking at the possibility of taking the body of work they've done, moving to the other side" of the road. He added that the decision will come down to funding and that he would bring data back to council when it is available. On water billing, the mayor said residents reported being billed "for 30 plus thousand gallons of water a month" despite not irrigating; he said the town is working with CWS to determine the cause.
Why it matters: the sidewalk placement could affect private yards, mature trees and neighborhood connectivity; the water-billing reports, if widespread or systemic, could impose large unexpected costs on households. Council did not take action at the meeting but the mayor said staff will return with information for follow-up.
