Councilmember Wanika Fisher introduced CR 92-2024 to recommend creation of a regional service director pilot for Langley Park — a position to coordinate community, commercial and government services in that neighborhood. Fisher said Langley Park’s immigrant population, small businesses and transit connections merit a focused, hands-on approach and cited Montgomery County models such as Wheaton and Silver Spring as precedents.
The administration asked to hold the resolution so staff can meet with relevant stakeholders (meeting scheduled Oct. 15). Fisher said she was willing to hold if the item returns to the GOP agenda on Oct. 21. The committee voted to hold CR 92 for further consideration with the intent to place it on the Oct. 21 agenda.
