Prince George's County Council held public hearings on a package of housing and community development amendments that would reprogram federal and local housing funds for designated projects.
CR72 proposes to reallocate $1,000,000 in HOME Investment Partnerships Program funds to a "pathways to purchase" activity not originally funded in the FY2025 annual action plan. CR74 would add the New Carrollton affordable phase project and reprogram $2,750,000 in HOME funds across multiple annual action plans. CR75 would reallocate $820,601 in Community Development Block Grant funds for eligible activities; CR76 would allocate $2,500,000 from the Housing Investment Trust Fund to gap finance a new affordable rental housing project (Highlands Senior Apartments).
Council members and staff noted that the matters will be discussed further in a Committee of the Whole work session; the public hearings closed with no speakers recorded.
"This is a resolution concerning fiscal year FY 2025 annual action plan for housing and community development by adding the new Carrollton affordable phase project ... and the reprogramming and reallocation of $2,750,000 in HOME funds," a council speaker read during the meeting. Another item announced the $2,500,000 Housing Investment Trust commitment for gap financing of new affordable rental housing construction.
