Council introduces short‑term rental database bill to boost transparency

Prince George's County Council on Oct. 8 introduced CB66-2024, legislation that would require the Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement to maintain an online, searchable public database of licensed short‑term rentals.
The Committee of the Whole reported the bill favorably, with committee staff saying the requirement would include host physical address, council district and outstanding code violation information. The committee vote was reported as 8-0 in favor, and the county executive's office indicated support for the bill with the committee's incorporated amendments.
"The bill requires DPOD to extend the short term rental database to be viewable by the public, including information regarding the host physical address, council district, municipality license number, and any outstanding code violation information," the committee reporter said during the meeting.
Council members listed additional sponsors and the bill was recorded as introduced for further consideration and referral to committee.
