Prince George's County Council on Oct. 8 presented Bishop McNamara High School with a proclamation recognizing the school as a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School.
The proclamation, read at the council meeting, noted Bishop McNamara's classification as an "exemplary high performing" school, its enrollment of about 888 students and the school's 60th anniversary as an independent Holy Cross high school in Prince George's County. The council cited the class of 2024's reported scholarship awards of over $30,000,000 and the school's 100% four‑year college acceptance rate and 95% college matriculation rate.
A school official who accepted the proclamation thanked the council for county support and credited faculty, staff and families for the recognition. "We are so proud of our faculty. We are tremendously grateful for the County support," the speaker said.
The council invited school leadership to receive the proclamation and take a photo with council leaders.
