Council amends local impact grant plan to direct $4 million for senior relief and services

The Prince George's County Council on Oct. 1 voted to amend the FY2025 local impact grant multiyear spending plan to allocate $4,000,000 toward senior mortgage, rental and property tax relief and an associated recreational and financial-literacy component.
Committee staff told the council that the FY25 spending plan totals $9,736,600 and that the proposed amendment would make the senior relief program a year-round job opportunity managed by a community development corporation affiliated with Kingdom Fellowship. "The total spending plan for f y 20 25 is $9,736,600," Nathaniel Tutt reported during the committee recap. Council Member Burrows moved the amendment; a roll call recorded the motion as carrying 9-0 at the committee stage, and the council authorized the chair to transmit the final plan to the county executive with the approved changes.
