Vanessa Schmidt told trustees the district will expand teacher access to student IEPs and 504 plans through technology platforms to improve accuracy and implementation. “Every teacher at 209… has access to what's called Embrace IEP or Embrace 504,” she said, explaining that teachers will be able to read present levels, past testing and accommodations online; the district also plans to add an accommodations icon under student names in PowerSchool.
Schmidt described a strengthened role for case managers, who will assist teachers with implementation, progress monitoring and collaboration so accommodations are applied with fidelity. The effort is intended to reduce misunderstandings about when and how accommodations should be used and to help teachers track student progress more systematically.
