During new business on Jan. 13 the Markesan Common Council approved overtime for the City Clerk not to exceed 40 hours in January.
A motion by Ald. Thiem, seconded by Ald. Triemstra, to grant up to 40 hours of overtime passed 4-2 on roll call. An amendment from Ald. Prill, seconded by Ald. Abendroth, to reduce the cap to 15 hours failed 2-4. The minutes record Ald. Kazda, Ald. Lager, Ald. Thiem and Ald. Triemstra voting against the amendment; Ald. Prill and Ald. Abendroth opposed the main motion.
