Cemetery Board flags sunken storm drain; township awaits city response

The Cemetery Board reported the drain sits outside the cemetery boundary and may lie on the right-of-way for a nearby cemetery road that is owned by a Catholic church. Russell Allen, a church trustee, told the board the church did not install the drain and asked who might have been responsible for its original installation. Cemetery Board representative(s) emphasized the primary concern is not only repairing the hole but determining which party is responsible for ongoing maintenance.
Richard Woods said he had contacted the city and was waiting for someone to contact him about the issue. The board did not take a formal vote or adopt a resolution at the meeting; the update was recorded as an item for follow-up.
The matter raises a practical safety concern for cemetery visitors and drivers and a jurisdictional question about maintenance responsibility; the board's next step is to await the city's response and report back at a future meeting.
