The Montmorency County Board voted 5-0 April 9 to authorize the Controller/Administrator to open collective bargaining discussions with the Police Officers Labor Council (POLC). The motion, made by Chair Mary Hardies and seconded by Commissioner Lloyd Peltier, directed county staff to solicit union proposals and prepare a preliminary successor agreement for future board consideration.
The authorization was recorded in the minutes as a formal motion and roll-call vote (yeas 5, nays 0). County Controller Aprille Williamson was present during the report that preceded the motion and the record notes union negotiations as a standing administrative item for the county.
The board did not adopt any agreement at the meeting; the motion authorizes staff to begin negotiations and develop proposals to return to the board for formal action.
