Sarah Melching, Montmorency County Emergency Management Director, told commissioners that "a local and state emergency declaration was made" after recent flooding that produced road washouts and water-over-road events and prompted consultations with Drain Commissioner Todd Behring about dams and drainage.
Melching said northern training exercises were canceled, the county is coordinating with the Red Cross and is distributing surveys to see which organizations would be willing to serve as shelters. She emphasized the financial consequences and the need for careful documentation of damage for state or federal assistance and said the county webpage will include a self-assessment link for residents and businesses to report impacts.
