Hampton board to ask governor, executive councilor to press NHDOT for Seabrook/Hampton bridge lighting

Select Board members discussed recent reporting about lack of lighting in the New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) Seabrook/Hampton bridge project and expressed safety concerns July 27. Selectman Charles Rage said state officials are aware and encouraging action: "Executive Councilor Stevens and Governor Ayotte are aware of the concerns and are advocating that solar lighting be installed."
Board members noted DOT had previously cited maintenance-cost concerns for excluding lighting, but that pedestrian lighting is now under consideration. The board voted unanimously to send a letter to Governor Ayotte and Executive Councilor Stevens in support of efforts to install safety lighting on the bridge and directed staff to prepare the letter for signature.
