Hampton Fire Department reports full roster, new ambulance and asks for PPE funds

Fire Chief McMahon told the Select Board July 27 that the department has two new probationary firefighters, Joshua Moulton and Zachary Conlon, bringing the roster to full staffing and that, "As of this morning the department handled 2,048 calls which involved 3700 plus unit responses," many of which were multi-response calls. He said the department had received mutual aid 62 times and provided mutual aid 46 times.
Chief McMahon said Ambulance 3 has been placed into service and the department sold the old ambulance. He also announced the department received simulation mannequins for advanced EMS training and that a new advanced sepsis protocol rolled out in April has been used eight times. "It is important to acknowledge that cooperative partnership and training under Chief McMahon and Chief Reno’s leadership," Town Manager James Sullivan said, noting that a chest seal applied by officers helped save a life after the July 5 shooting.
On apparatus and equipment, Chief McMahon reviewed ladder-truck procurement: four bids were received, two were under the $1.8 million appropriation, and the department is working on financing and lease details with plans to return to the board in August. The board authorized $17,373 from the Firefighters Turn Out Gear/Personal Protective Equipment Capital Reserve Fund for turnout gear for three firefighters and approved acceptance of a $3,500 Planet Fitness donation for the Beach station.
Chief McMahon also reported Car 5 was totaled earlier in the year; the board approved reassignment of the EMS Officer’s vehicle to Car 5 and authorized using Island Technical Services (ITS) for vehicle upfitting, with the purchase to use state bid pricing from MacMulkin Chevrolet and be funded by the EMS (027) Fund.
