After Act 162 change, Fayston discusses fire-warden coverage and inter-town coordination

Madison Vasseur told the Selectboard that after Act 162 fire chiefs also serve as fire wardens; as a result Cam Mills was deputized by the fire chief and will cover both Waitsfield and Fayston. Vasseur said that technically Jared Young remains fire warden but that Cam will serve as deputy covering both towns.
Board members discussed whether a Fayston resident should serve in the fire-warden role and how to improve communications between towns. "We should see if we can get copies of the minutes of the Fire Dept meetings to stay better informed," Vasseur said. Michael Jordan added that the fire warden does not necessarily have to be a Fayston resident but should know the area. The board asked staff to investigate the possibility of securing a Fayston resident as a deputy and to look for ways to share minutes or other information between towns.
No formal change in personnel or an appointment was made at the meeting; the discussion focused on improving situational awareness and ensuring local knowledge for fire-warden duties.
