The work is funded through a Vermont Department of Public Safety Hazard Mitigation Flood Resilient Communities Fund grant of $343,263, which Gulnick said “provides funding with no local match requirement resulting in the project being funded 100%.”
Board members asked for details about the procurement and timeline: Gulnick confirmed the town received a single bid and said project leaders hope to finish by October. The board discussed contingencies for potential cost overruns; Gulnick told members any adjustments would be handled between the town and the grantor so “the burden would not be put on the local taxpayers.” The contract includes debris removal as part of the bid and Gulnick clarified that any remaining grant funds could not be reallocated to other town projects.
