Rye moves forward with partial 2026 Bailey Brook watershed study, eyes 2027 work

Rye planning staff told the Master Plan Implementation Committee that the town did not submit a PREPA grant in June for a Bailey Brook watershed study but will proceed with a partial 2026 study. Kim Reed (Planning & Zoning) and Jason Rucker said the 2026 effort will rely primarily on FB Environmental to analyze stormwater management and recommend actions to protect the watershed that supplies Rye’s drinking water.
Reed and Rucker said they are preparing a proposal and budget for a larger 2027 follow-up that would include updated watershed mapping and expanded water-quality analysis. Committee members emphasized that the Bailey Brook watershed is critical to enabling future development and that the 2027 scope will be designed to inform land-use decisions and capital planning.
