Economic director outlines small-scale consultant work and eCommunity launch

Economic Development Director Jenny Satman briefed the commission on two items: an updated consultant arrangement and the county's eCommunity program launch.
Satman said the consultant she had worked with rebranded as Springline and that rather than a full costly economic-development plan she is pursuing targeted hourly work within her current budget. She told commissioners: "They're working on developing a... letter of intent framework so ... if somebody called us up ... they can send us kind of a letter of their project..." to streamline developer intake.
Satman also announced the county is launching an eCommunity program in partnership with Network Kansas. She described planned library launch events in multiple communities and said the program will promote resources such as eCommunity loans, training grants and outreach to help small businesses and entrepreneurs across the county.
