Charlestown board hires Bartlett to analyze data for updated tree inventory

The Charlestown City Tree Board said on Sept. 5 that Bartlett Tree Service will analyze county data and produce an estimate for a modernized tree inventory intended to prioritize city streets and public trails. The Chair said Bartlett’s IT team will run the county data through its system and deliver initial figures “by the 3rd week of September,” giving the board time to include the cost in an upcoming grant application.
The Chair told members the existing inventory—updated by an intern in 2019—is unreliable for current planning and safety work near trails. She said the board will map priority zones (city streets and trails used by residents) so the inventory effort is targeted rather than citywide. “They are analyzing those and are gonna run those through a system,” the Chair said when describing Bartlett’s next steps. Board members requested an itemized estimate to review at the October meeting and to consider including inventory costs in a multi-year grant plan.
