SBA official outlines disaster loan help for Darrington; local Republican announces state-house bid

Two visitors spoke during the May 13 Darrington Town Council meeting. Steve Ewing, introduced as a former Lake Stevens city council member, said he is running as a Republican for the 39th State House seat that current Representative Carolyn Eslick will not seek this cycle.
Colden Brown, Public Affairs Specialist with the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Disaster Recovery & Resilience, described post-flood assistance for small businesses and homeowners. Brown said the SBA may send a mobile unit to Darrington to help residents with applications, and stated, "They offer zero percent interest on 30 year disaster loans." Brown provided application deadlines recorded in the minutes: June 10, 2026 for homeowners and Jan. 7, 2027 for businesses to submit relief applications with FEMA.
