The City of Ocala Code Enforcement Board on Aug. 4 determined that violations exist at 616 NW 10th Place and adopted staff recommendations that set a firm deadline for the owner to obtain a demolition or repair permit. Officer Steven Knight presented the case history and follow-up efforts by code staff.
Resident Noy Hernandez, sworn for testimony, said the contractor expected permit approval soon and asked for more time. "So we're gonna demolish the building, and we're getting in contact after we get the letter... So I request, like, a little extension... Until I get the permission to take it down, the permit," Hernandez told the board. Staff told the board it was recommending permit submission by Oct. 2, 2025, and outlined post-permit timelines: 90 days if repairs are chosen and 60 days if demolition is selected.
Board members adopted staff's recommendation by voice vote, giving the respondent until Oct. 2 to secure the necessary permit and then the applicable completion window tied to whether repairs or demolition proceed. Staff advised the owner to remain in contact with code enforcement during the process.
