City staff: new downtown parking garage to provide 800 spaces, slated for July 2026 completion

Roberto Ellis, economic development manager, told committee members the parking garage associated with downtown projects is "slated for completion in July 2026" and will include roughly 800 parking spaces. "It will be 800 spaces," he said, and added that a portion will be dedicated to the AC Hotel.
Ellis said the project experienced some delays related to underground electrical work but that, barring unforeseen issues, both the garage and related projects should finish in time so the hotel can use the spaces. Committee members asked whether the hotel and garage schedules align; Ellis said the hotel may finish "a few months later." The garage will also make reserved hotel spaces available to the public during large downtown events.
