Sno-Isle Libraries outlines summer plans; council approves Riddle Street closure for kickoff

Darrington Town Council on June 10 approved closing Riddle Street between Givens and Mt Loop Highway to accommodate Sno-Isle Libraries’ Summer Kick-off events on Friday, June 12. Reed Rankin moved to approve the closure; Evan Craig seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The mayor was authorized to sign the closure paperwork.
Eric Howard, Executive Director of Sno-Isle Libraries, told the council the system "offer 6000 events per year" and that the library issued more cards in 2025 than at any prior time. Asheley Bryson, Darrington Library Manager, described local plans including a Summer Kick-off on "Friday the 12th," reading challenges for multiple age groups, and a Story Trail at Old School Park tied to America’s 250th. Council members said they supported the closure as necessary to host the community event.
