Commission considers taking over Green Up Day and will staff Rec Fest table; approves $50 for scavenger-hunt prizes

The Conservation Commission discussed whether it should assume responsibility for Green Up Day, an event long supervised by Steve Aikenhead. Ellen Clattenburg was assigned to contact Aikenhead to clarify exactly what management duties would entail and to report back at the commission’s August 27 meeting.
Commissioners also planned outreach at the Rec Fest on Aug. 1 (noon–6 p.m.). Bruce Cox said he would staff the commission table and that Ryan Gumbart and Cheryl Cox will help; other members were invited to volunteer. The commission voted to reimburse Cheryl Cox $50 for scavenger-hunt prizes; Dave Fuller moved to reimburse and Marina Garland seconded, and the motion carried with all in favor.
