Local outreach group expands 'Loving Our Community' events; countywide Naloxone distribution set for Sept. 26

Bob Scheffner introduced a community outreach program called "Loving Our Community," and Caroline Wilson, a WVU Medicine case manager who leads the Berkeley–Jefferson outreach effort, described how the events combine meals, clothing and hygiene items with on-site service connections for people experiencing homelessness and substance use disorder.
"We do them every month...it's a collaborative community event where people of all sorts and agencies and organizations are invited to come and serve each other," Wilson said. She listed partner organizations providing services and said the program's 'Save a Life Day' will offer free naloxone (Narcan) distribution and training at six sites across Jefferson County on Sept. 26. Council members asked Wilson to provide flyers and contact details to city staff for promotion and coordination with schools and local groups.
