The council approved a one‑year, $2.5 million agreement with Petroleum Traders Corporation to supply fuel for the city fleet. John King, Fleet and Facilities Director, said the city consumes roughly 900,000 gallons annually and that partnering with the school board pushes the combined buy toward the one-million-gallon wholesale price tier.
"It's going to be an agreement with Petroleum Traders for 1 year in an amount of $2,500,000," King said, adding the partnership allows the city and school board to realize more favorable wholesale pricing. Council asked whether the school board would be invoiced separately; staff said yes and explained tanker deliveries originate at the Port of Tampa. Council approved the agreement by roll call.
