Council approves floodplain modeling, stormwater master plan work and DEP grant funding

Ocala staff told the council they would standardize multiple AE floodplain studies into a single FEMA‑acceptable model to simplify future map revisions and improve permitability. "This task work order will update the AE floodplain model to 1 model acceptable to FEMA, which will make future map revisions easier to perform," City Engineer Sean Lanier said. Council approved the task order with Black & Veatch.
Council also approved a grant agreement with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to partially fund a stormwater master plan and authorized a Kimley‑Horn task order (No. 37) to develop and implement that plan from the city's vulnerability assessment. Lanier said these steps support the city's strategic goal of quality of place and will help the city better manage floodplain revisions and stormwater vulnerability. Council approved the items by roll call.
