District says summer programs served thousands; CTE camps and arts partners expand offerings

District leaders told the Instruction Work Group the summer-semester program (4K—12) served "over 4,000 students" and expanded 4K seats and credit-bearing summer courses. Dr. Stanford described partnerships with nearly 30 community teaching artists and reported the Career and Technical Education discovery camps produced 284 enrollments across 35 schools, including 21 distinct camp topics ranging from barbering to drone technology.
Stanford cited survey feedback: "The feedback was overwhelmingly positive with 98 percent of our parents that were surveyed, said that they would recommend the program, and 86 percent of students reported that the camp successfully met their learning needs." Staff cautioned that survey response counts vary by program and that the district will present a comprehensive data report (attendance, achievement and demographic breakdowns) in late fall or early winter. Board members asked for clearer counts of students with IEPs and longitudinal cohort tracking in future reports.
