Commissioners honor retiring Sheriff Samuel S. Page; Captain Jennifer Brown offers public tribute

County Manager Lance Messler asked the board to recognize Sheriff Samuel S. Page on the occasion of his retirement and recited a summary of Page's career, including his service as sheriff since 1998, leadership roles in sheriff associations and community programs such as DARE and Narcan distribution.
"Sheriff Samuel S Page is recognized for 28 years on the occasion of his retirement from the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office and for service to Rockingham County," Messler said.
During public comment, Captain Jennifer Brown said she has served with the sheriff's office since 1994, identified her address, and used her three minutes to thank colleagues and encourage them not to be disheartened by negativity.
"I want them to know that I care...I want them to be strong. I want them to stand up as I have for what they believe is right," Brown said. Commissioners and the chair offered additional tributes and congratulations.
