CTP includes roughly 200 bike-and-ped projects and new greenways to connect towns

NCDOT presenters said the county plan lists about 200 bicycle and pedestrian projects, including sidewalks, bike lanes, side paths and multiuse greenways meant to connect towns and parks; two small sidewalk additions in Madison and Reidsville will appear on the Aug. 17 agenda.
Emily Stepka told the board that the CTP's bike-and-ped recommendations include roughly 200 projects ranging from on-street bike lanes and sidewalks to multiuse greenways intended to link towns, parks and community destinations.
"So this is a little bit of a scary map...the yellow lines would be where we're recommending bicycle accommodations...Purple would be your pedestrian accommodations...and brown are your multiuse paths," Stepka explained, describing the map legend and saying the list of multiuse path projects is included in the packet.
She noted two small changes made during municipal adoptions: a short sidewalk addition in Madison to connect downtown to a Dollar General and a sidewalk extension in Reidsville to connect to Walmart; both will be on the Aug. 17 agenda for formal consideration.
