Council approves transfer of dormant savings to general fund for maintenance and tornado-siren work

The council discovered a rarely used savings account (0717) with $3,596.12 and voted to transfer the balance into the general account (4292) to be available for maintenance, septic cleaning, locks and to cover work on the tornado warning system. Members noted the balance nearly covers automation for the siren and would remove a barrier to automatic activation during severe weather.
"Some of us didn't even know it was in there... it's kinda like free money," the chair said, proposing the transfer and instructing staff to produce a resolution for the next meeting. The council approved the transfer and asked the city attorney to prepare the necessary paperwork.
