Council members raised concerns that the mayor's social-media accounts remained active and that the city must preserve any public records before removing them. Staff and an advisor cited the Texas Open Records Act and advised that data be downloaded and archived before deletion.
"Due to the open reference Act, all of the data that's in it has to be completely downloaded," an advisor told the council, and members voted unanimously to have staff download the mayor's account contents and then delete the page to eliminate continued access by a former officeholder.
