On March 10, 2026, the Weston Selectboard voted to enter an executive session "pursuant to 1 V.S.A. §313(a)(1)(F) and 1 V.S.A. §313(a)(1)(C) to discuss confidential attorney-client communications with Town Counsel for the purpose of receiving legal advice and confidential discussions regarding alternative dispute resolution processes," a motion made by Selectboard member Jim Linville and seconded by Denis Benson.
Town Counsel Merrill Bent and former Selectboard member Linda Saarnijoki were invited to attend the closed session. Selectboard member Katie Fitzpatrick recused herself from the meeting prior to the executive session. The board later reported that no action was taken while in executive session; Denis Benson moved to exit the executive session and the motion was seconded by Jim Linville. The meeting adjourned at 7:12 p.m.
