Staff walked commissioners through the East Ocala CRA mural grant pilot and OMAC’s advisory role in recommending artists and projects to the CRA board.
Emily said applicants must submit a commercial‑building improvement grant and an artist project detail sheet; OMAC can review an artist roster and recommend an artist or approve a short list for the CRA advisory body, which then forwards projects to the CRA board for final approval. She noted that eliminating an advisory step could save two to four months in review time. Todd Rudyani, a local advocate, urged the commission to confirm its recommendation for the Justin Alcidec mural so the CRA board can act promptly.
Staff said the pilot is intended to provide a clearer pathway for East Ocala projects and that any reimbursable grant approved by the CRA will return to OMAC for status updates.
