Police chief requests two officers, records system renewal; recognizes K‑9 teams

"Our current contract expires this year... So we've got to come up with a new CAD system," Smith said.
Smith reviewed workload and outcomes: 36,855 calls for service (up 4.77%), roughly 1,060 arrests and increased traffic stops (10,468, up about 15.7%). He also recognized department accomplishments including a completed radio infrastructure installation and staffing changes. At a later part of the meeting Smith returned to introduce a Police K‑9 Awards presentation, noting Officers Alex Beltatone and Reuben Vargas and their dogs Tango and Cash placed high at the U.S. Police Canine Association Region 20 trials.
