Board recognizes Eagle Scout project and approves GHS Palms travel to Illinois

The board approved a commendation to recognize an Eagle Scout whose project was completed on district property and who later received the rank of Eagle Scout. A trustee reviewed board policy 66‑80 governing recognition of outstanding community and student service and said the scout’s project met the criteria for formal recognition. "I make a motion to approve the commendation for Eagle Scout Carson DPs Depis," a trustee said; the board carried the motion on a roll call vote.
Separately the board approved an overnight travel request for 26 Germantown High School students and three coaches to compete in Schaumburg, Illinois, Aug. 6–8, 2026; parents attending will pay their own way and one trustee indicated an abstention on the travel vote. The board discussed that the district would not be footing the travel bill and clarified expectations for chaperones and coaches.
Both items were approved and will proceed as planned: the commendation will be presented at the scout’s ceremony next month, and the Palms travel was approved with the noted abstention.
