Planner Jonathan Anderson said Midvale City received a TLC grant through the Wasatch Front Regional Council (WFRC) to study the feasibility and routing of the Porter Rockwell trail through Midvale and connections to neighboring cities. The project scope includes an analysis of existing conditions, development of three route concepts and a preferred option, cost estimates, and public outreach. Anderson said Alta Planning + Design was selected as the consultant and that WFRC will disburse payments to the consultant as project benchmarks are met.
The total project budget is $75,000, with WFRC covering the majority and the City providing a $10,000 local match that is included in the FY2025 budget. Council approved Resolution No. 2025‑R‑04 authorizing the Mayor to execute the agreement. Council members asked where the trail would start and end; staff said it currently would connect from Draper north to Midvale and could eventually extend toward downtown Salt Lake City through regional planning.
