Michael Bowery told council that wastewater operations had inspected and cleaned about 400,000 feet of sewer infrastructure, installed more than 40,000 feet of cured‑in‑place pipelining and rehabilitated manholes and storage wells to reduce failure risk. He said one pump station now has an emergency generator to ensure continuous operation during storms and noted trenchless pipelining as a less invasive repair method.
On preparedness, Bowery said the city staged more than 100 vehicles for storm response and cleared about 1,800 lane miles across several snow events, using approximately 1,100 tons of salt for anti‑icing. He described these measures as part of a broader living‑with‑water and resiliency approach tied to drainage projects and dredging work in the Salt Ponds and Hampton River.
