"We are currently preparing and testing Zoom webinar to serve as the city's remote participation platform," Meyer said, and staff said they planned a June test run before the July 1 compliance deadline.
The adopted policy formalizes how remote speaker queues will be managed, applies the city’s decorum rules to remote participants, and requires remote speakers to follow the same time limits as in-person speakers. Council members asked about the law’s recess requirement for prolonged disruptions; staff said the policy contemplates up to a one‑hour recess to reestablish remote participation capability before proceeding.
Next steps: staff will complete training, publish instructions and meeting links on the city website, and schedule the June test run for remote participation operations.
