Jaden from the county engineer’s office presented three items on the agenda: two right-of-way utility permits (Mediacom and Windstream) for underground fiber work and a right-of-way easement purchase needed for an upcoming bridge replacement project.
The Mediacom permit would allow an underground bore for fiber along East 18th Avenue in Van Buren Township (Section 29). The engineer’s office recommended approval because the work is at the edge of the right-of-way and the department saw no issues.
The Windstream permit covers an underground bore along Sebring Ridge Road near the Bellevue city limits; Jaden said most work would occur inside city limits but would extend to the county portion and noted the permit requires appropriate Iowa DOT traffic-control measures because of terrain and limited shoulders.
Jaden also presented a right-of-way purchase agreement for a bridge replacement on 189th Street (DOT project BROSCO49 / 102-HA-49). The easement covers about 0.52 acres and the total purchase price for the easement is $2,915 from Clifford Nielsen and Cheryl Nielsen (Vocal Trust). The board approved the purchase and the engineer said easement documents will be recorded to keep the project on schedule for a December letting.
All three items were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
