The Mashpee Select Board voted to approve a set of end-of-year appropriation transfers, retroactive to July 15, 2026, after Treasurer-Collector Craig Mahan outlined higher-than-expected billing costs and an auditor-required OPEB report.
"The majority of it is... because the bills went from 21¢ per bill to 28¢ per bill during the year," Craig Mahan told the board, adding that a new biller and the OPEB report were the principal reasons for the request. The board moved the recommendation, which passed on a roll-call vote with no discussion.
The finance committee had reviewed the transfers and reported approval at its Thursday meeting. Board members asked no follow-up questions before voting; the town clerk will incorporate the retroactive effective date into the appropriation records.
